A short break

Two down and a brave few to go.I was in Bath last night, the gig was great... well I can't speak for everyone but I had a good night. The last two gigs have been to people that don't really know my stuff and as much as I like playing to a crowd that have paid to come and hear you play your songs, there's a buzz from playing to people that don't really know what to expect. It's like a blank canvas. having cut my teeth on the live circuit in Ireland I'm well used to doing what's needed to get the job done, which means a gig could go anywhere. They can end in revered silence and having a real moment as much as they can end in unplugging the guitar for an acoustic sing-a-long...which I've always loved about the live event. Point is, the last two gigs have been those open ended sort of gigs which has made them very enjoyable and exciting for me. Tonight (In Haywards Heath) I invited a percussion group, that were involved with the festival, up onto the stage to play a song with me and it made the night because something was happening in the moment. People knew what they were watching was no longer something rehearsed but something real and live (not that it's impossible to get that with a rehearsed set) which made us all feel part of the same thing... Surely that's what live's all about?
I have a feeling that I'm ranting on incoherently and most likely making a lot of spelling mistakes too...so, ni night.

Jonny Pollock replied 30 minutes after.I suppose it seems like your starting all over again in some ways. But the main thing is that you are taking your music to people who go waiting to see what will happen. And you don't disappoint! God Bless, JP
Andi replied about 21 hours after. You really do like your wee 'moments' dont ya? But i know eactly what you mean anyways. We surely had one at the last black box gig...a lazy saturday afternoon, pasta and breadrolls and a malfunctioning effects pedal.. *sniff sniff*
