Jonathan Ross and my hotel room in Cork

It's official, Jonathan Ross rocks!  (easy for me to say).  I've been a fan of his shows for a while, and it's always a bit risky meeting people you enjoy so much, just in case they turn out to be twats, thankfully he was quite the opposite.

I'm a bit embarrassed by my name checking the Sex Pistols as a great band when Mick Jones from the Clash was just leaving the building...  I hope he didn't think I was giving him a back handed insult... although he probably didn't even take note.  It's funny, because I was introduced to him when I came into the waiting room but it didn't register who he was.  The second the penny dropped I began to feel differently about this guy I'd just met...like he would be any less a person if he hadn't been part of inventing punk?  Either way he seemed like a very decent bloke...for the record the Clash are a great band too!

Now, I know this isn't very rock and roll, but I have to share this with you... check out the view from my hotel room in Cork...

Pretty good eh?  However fear not about my rock'n'roll status as I fully intend on taking a slash in the sink... a small step forward but a step nonetheless.

Hey Foy, what a day for you. I just caught your set on Jonathan Ross, much to my delight. I say you the last time at the Slaughtered Lamb and fully intend to go again. Wanted to drag lots of family to the Blackbox when I was over home, but families just don't cooperate on time and we missed the tickets! Believe my sister Elaine knows your wife Joanne from the Belfast Print Work Shop, what a small world. Look forward to hearing you soon, may the success continue.

Hi Foy! Caught most of your interview & Indiscriminate Act of Kindness, (got very giddy driving to town...) its great to see that you're doing so well! Don't forget us here in Bury though, we love you coming to see us in the little Met theatre :-)I managed to get one of my pals to listen to you too, and he's converted - when will you be coming back to Manchester again?

Too bad we can't buy Foy's music in the US. I guess we'll have to wait for him to return to the sxsw festival in Austin. Great stuff!

i was at the gig in the Roisin Dubh in Galway on the 9th Sep,and i have to say you blew me away... my fella drove up from Wexford to see you after i told him to check you out on youtube and was completely thrown by you... i had heard alot of your music before this and bought your ep Watermelon Oranges and YOUR DEBUT ALBUM!!! Hope, and was delighted with both, but seeing you live put you in a whole different light.such a talented musician, and such an amazing and powerful voice that you made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and i had a massive smile on my face for the entire duration of the gig,it was nearly scary :) or the term i used throughtout that gig in the midst of my excitment... he makes my heart and soul bleed when he sings.i also realised you are a character, you have a quirkiness about you that not even the most sour person could deny, such a funny guy that made the whole experience even better,if thats possible.you played my favorite song... Ballie's Blood(which i have to admit was devastated that it wasnt on your album).if anyone knows where i could get a recording of Ballie's Blood please let me know,as im relying on youtube at the moment.Tom Stone was also very enjoyable, very impressed with him i was.have to add aswell, love the hidden track on Two Shades of Hope of our daughter,it's so cute.you have a star in the making there. to sum up,i have imense respect for you and your music,am a singer songwriter myself and if im half as good as you in 10 years ill have achieved my goal.i look forward to seeing you live again... and thanks for being so nice when i asked for your autograph, made me calmer. best of look to you, your going to be BIG. good luck.

lovely guy came to to lay a floor in my hall and dining room today and as we were chatting he suddenly asked "is that the radio playing?" when I told him was the new Foy Vance cd he beamed and said I grew up beside him in Groomsport and he met you in the Parlour Bar a while ago. Anyhow, Neil is asking for you!!

Ciao Foy,heard you on the Jonathan show and I've just been on your site. Tomorrow I'm going in town to get your record. Hope one day you can come to Leicester because I'll be there at the Charlotte! By the way, Mick is a great bloke. More than 25 years ago I listened to Sandinista and I became a Clash fan. Then, 2 years ago, I met the man in London by chance in a book shop and told him that if he ever played in Leicester I would have loved to cook an Italian meal for him(I'm from Turin)to thank him for the great influence he and Joe Strummer had had on me as a youngster. A few weeks later he called me and .... with Tony James and the rest of the band he came to my house for dinner before the gig in Leicester. Good luck with your music and ....you never know, one day you might knock on my door and ask for some "bruschetta" and a glass of "vino"! Cheers. Giamba
